The Hertfordshire (Temporary Closing and Temporary Waiting Restrictions in A505

(Offley Road/Moormead Hill), Hitchin and A505 Offley Bypass, Offley) order 2022

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under                                                                Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic

from using that length of A505 (Offley Road/Moormead Hill), Hitchin and A505 Offley Bypass,

Offley from its junction with B655 Pirton Road south westwards for a distance of

approximately 8177m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A505 (Upper Tilehouse Street/Old Park Road/Bedford Road),

A600 (Bedford Road/Hitchin Road), Hitchin Road, Clifton Street, Southbridge Street,

A507 (High Street/Ampthill Road/unnamed road), A6 (Bedford Road/Luton Road/ Barton Road/New Bedford Road), A5228 Stockingstone Road and A505 (Stopsley Way/ Hitchin Road/Offley Bypass)

or via A505 (Offley Bypass/Hitchin Road/Stopsley Way), A5228 Stockingstone Road, A6 (New Bedford Road/Barton Road/Luton Road/Bedford Road), A507 (unnamed road/Ampthill Road/High Street), Southbridge Street, Clifton Street, Hitchin Road, A600 (Hitchin Road/Bedford Road) and A505 (Bedford Road/Paynes Park/Upper Tilehouse Street).

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 1 April 2022 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

A copy of the proposed Order may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, Hertford between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding weekends, bank and public holidays).
